Content Manager

  • On-site, Hybrid
    • Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
  • The July HQ

Job description

At The July, stories are at the heart of everything we do.
Your role is to shape our distinct voice, to make sure the world hears and loves them…

The July is where great stories begin…

The July is a premium hospitality brand that’s bringing the human touch to the way people travel. We are a group of apartment-hotels driven by delivering the best experience the world has ever seen, for guests staying one night or one year.

From Amsterdam to the world! Together with our shareholder Aware Super, we are implementing our strategy of international growth as owner-operator. Our teams have the ambitious goal to develop multiple new apartment-hotels across prime European cities like London, Dublin, Paris, Lisbon and Barcelona. Each location has the local stories and spirit interwoven throughout the apartment-hotel’s distinctive design.

About the Role

Every stay, space, and neighbour holds a story — and at The July, storytelling is how we build our brand, inspire loyalty, and shape culture.

We’re looking for an editorial-minded Content Manager to lead and evolve how these stories are told, shared, and scaled. You’ll transform our brand strategy into a cohesive, channel-optimised storytelling system that reaches audiences where they are — emotionally and digitally.

This is a strategic and creative leadership role that connects brand, content, and performance. You’ll define The July’s editorial vision, translate it into formats fit for every channel, and ensure our stories feel consistent yet native — whether they appear on social, in CRM, on our website, or through partnerships and press.

Key Responsibilities

Editorial Strategy & Narrative Framework

  • Develop The July’s editorial strategy — the themes, tone, and story pillars that bring our brand positioning to life.

  • Build an always-on editorial calendar that weaves together commercial moments, cultural storytelling, tastemaker collaborations, and local neighbourhood narratives.

  • Partner with the Brand Manager and Growth Marketing Manager to translate strategic goals (ADR protection, loyalty growth, direct revenue) into storytelling opportunities.

  • Define how stories adapt across formats — from long-form editorial to micro social content — ensuring each is channel-optimised but narratively consistent.

Content Creation & Distribution

  • Write, edit, and commission high-impact editorial content that reflects our world: features, interviews, campaign narratives, newsletters, and social storytelling.

  • Manage a network of writers, photographers, videographers, and creators, ensuring outputs feel distinctively July in tone, style, and substance.

  • Partner with creative, digital, and design teams to craft multi-channel storytelling ecosystems, ensuring each platform plays a defined role in the narrative arc.

  • Oversee the full content lifecycle — from concept and production to publication, performance, and iteration.

Brand Voice & Story Integrity

  • Act as guardian of The July’s voice: human, intelligent, warm, and quietly bold.

  • Ensure every story — whether it’s a social caption or a brand film — feels true to our purpose: making space for stories to unfold.

  • Embed storytelling thinking across the organisation, empowering teams to contribute narratives from every property, city, and department.

Performance, Optimisation & Editorial Intelligence

  • Establish story performance frameworks — tracking engagement, brand sentiment, share of voice, SEO, and content-driven conversions.

  • Analyse what stories resonate, where, and why — turning insights into future editorial strategy.

  • Continuously refine formats and tone to stay culturally relevant and algorithmically smart.

Champion experimentation with new storytelling mediums — audio, short-form video, or experiential content.

Job requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • 4–6 years experience in editorial, brand content, or storytelling strategy, ideally within lifestyle, travel, or culture-driven brands.

  • A natural storyteller and editor with a strategic mind and a strong understanding of audience behaviour across channels.

  • Proven experience turning brand frameworks into content systems that balance creativity with commercial outcomes.

  • Skilled at managing content calendars, contributors, and creative workflows.

  • Deep understanding of multi-channel storytelling — how to shape narratives for SEO, CRM, social, and earned media without losing coherence.

  • Native-level English fluency required; Dutch or additional languages a plus.

Why Join The July Marketing team?

  • Help define and scale the storytelling engine of one of Europe’s most exciting lifestyle hospitality brands.

  • Bring to life narratives that span cities, cultures, and communities — from Amsterdam to London, Dublin, and Lisbon.

  • Join a team that sees storytelling not as marketing, but as the soul of the brand.

  • Grow in a role that blends editorial creativity with strategic impact — where your words and ideas directly shape how people feel, connect, and remember their stay.
